How to tip The Verge: email, Signal, and more

Note: This section is dedicated solely to editorial tips. For inquiries related to advertising, technical support, or other matters, please refer to the appropriate section.

Many significant stories begin with tips from individuals like you. We are constantly seeking information about companies and products that influence our daily lives, insights into governmental bodies that regulate technology and the environment, as well as narratives about the broader impact of technology on society. Evidence is crucial; firsthand experiences or documents that reveal critical information are far more beneficial than mere speculation. If you have encountered something that the public deserves to know, we want to hear from you.

How to Submit Tips

Email

The most straightforward way to get in touch with us is via email. You can send your tips to our general inbox at tips@theverge.com.

If you are concerned about potential repercussions, please avoid using your work email, Wi-Fi, or devices for this communication.

Signal

In addition to email, you have the option to send tips through the Signal app, which offers encrypted messaging and calls. While Signal does store your phone number and the last time you accessed the app, it does not retain records of your conversations. To ensure your privacy, it is advisable not to use your work phone for this purpose. You can download Signal from your device's app store.

For specific staff members, email addresses and Signal contact information can be found on their author pages, which are linked in the staff list.

Depending on the version of Signal you are using, you may need to add numbers as contacts prior to initiating a conversation. However, you can delete the contact once the conversation has begun. The Freedom of the Press Foundation also provides additional guidance on securing your Signal application.

Security Precautions

In line with the best practices recommended by the Freedom of the Press Foundation, this page is served over HTTPS and does not utilize third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

Your tips are invaluable to us, and we encourage you to reach out with any insights or information that could help inform our reporting. Together, we can shine a light on important issues that affect everyone.
